1.2% & shrinking

I saw on the news today that the Jewish population in the United States is down 6/10ths of a percent, from 1.8% to 1.2%.  Where have all my people gone?! Just kidding, sort of.  Chicago contains the third largest Jewish population outside of New York, and Los Angeles.

  1. I read that the population has gone down only if you are counting the people who consider themselves religious. But the number of people who consider themselves ethnically Jewish is the same.

  2. That's a relief. (Just kidding, really). I also saw on the news that traditional sectors like Catholicism, Judaism, and Methodists are declining, yet the evangelical movement is increasing, as are a number of people that consider themselves spiritual vs. practicing any one religion.
